Universal Battery Knowledge Base

The perfect complement to your distillate cartridge, the Dr.Dabber® Universal Battery can be used with any 510 threaded cartridge.

Featuring 3 variable voltage heat settings (LOW: 2.4V, MED: 3.0V, HIGH: 3.7V) as well as a 15 second pre-heat/sesh mode (2.1V), the Universal Battery is a stylish, but functional addition when you aren't near your rig.

Good for 40-50 uses on a single charge, this battery is more than enough to handle a standard 500mg cartridge and offers USB-C fast and pass-through charging.

The Basics

All of our electronic units come with lithium-ion batteries.  The Dr. Dabber Universal Battery comes with a 5 click on/off safety feature to ensure your battery is only on when you want it to be. This is most convenient for users who carry their pen in a pocket, bag, purse, etc.
Click the multi-use button 5 times rapidly to turn on/off the battery power. The button LED will illuminate while depressed if the battery is on. Press and hold the button to initiate heat with the atomizer, the LED should remain on during this process and blink when the cutoff has been reached. A safety cutoff is employed to avoid overheating or burning after 30 seconds.
The Dr. Dabber Universal Battery comes equipped with 3 voltages settings and a preheat mode. To change the power setting, click the multi-use button 3 times. The LED will pulse 3 times indicating the change in voltage. The voltage settings are identified by colored LEDs. Blue represents 2.4v (Low), Cyan is 3.0v (Medium), Orange is 3.7v (High).

These batteries provide an auto-shutoff feature after 5 minutes. We recommend turning your battery off before storing in a pocket or bag.

Using Your Pen

1. Turn on the universal battery with 5 clicks of the multi-use button and affix your cartridge to the battery. Tighten by hand, but do not over tighten. Once the cartridge stops turning, it is in place and ready for the next step.
2. Set the heat on your battery by clicking the multi-use button 3 times.
3. Press and hold the multi-use button while inhaling for up to 15 seconds.

The experience can be personalized by either lowering or raising the power settings or by using the preheat/sesh mode.

Preheat Mode

Click the multi-use button 2 times to initiate the preheat cycle. The preheat setting is used to warm up the cartridge contents, increasing the flow rate into the heating element. This setting comes in handy when your cartridge is exposed to very low temperatures.

The preheat cycle can additionally be used as a “session mode.” Since the preheat cycle will provide power at 2.1v for 15 seconds, many people like to use this for flavor heavy draws.

Preheat mode may be canceled by clicking the power button during a heating cycle.

What Types Of Cartridges Can I Use With My Battery?

Most 510 threaded cartridges are compatible with our universal batteries. If you have an issues with a certain cartridge, we recommend installing a new cartridge to see if this resolves the issue. Damaged or non 510 threaded cartridges may cause connectivity issues with the battery.

Troubleshooting

Make sure your battery is fully charged for best results.

Remove the cartridge from the battery and ensure there is no debris between the contact and the battery, then reattach. This will help with any faulty connections or misfires.

Make sure your cartridge is not threaded too tightly to the battery. About finger tight is recommended.

Clean all connection points between the cartridge and the battery with a cotton swab and ISO alcohol. Clean out any residue from the airflow regulator.

Check the firing pin on the battery for damage or residue.

Make sure your battery is powered on with 5 rapid clicks of the power button. The battery is on when the light illuminates while the power button is depressed.
